RELEASE: State Representative Patrick Garofalo Announces Retirement

Tuesday, January 16, 2024

St. Paul – State Representative Patrick Garofalo, R-Farmington, announced today that he will not seek re-election to the Minnesota House of Representatives this November.

First elected in 2004, Garofalo has become one of the leading voices in Minnesota and nationwide on energy policy as a strong advocate for both affordable and clean energy. Garofalo previously served as Chair of the House Education Finance Committee, 2 terms as Chair of the Job Growth and Energy Affordability Policy and Finance Committee, and most recently as the Republican lead on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee.

"I am grateful for the trust and responsibility that the citizens of Farmington and the surrounding areas have placed in me since 2004,” said Garofalo. “It has been my honor to serve them, their families, and our community. However, after 20 years of public service, it is time for me to step aside and find other ways to engage in policymaking in Minnesota.”

During his time in office, Garofalo has worked to reduce the costs of government, promote economic development, and pursue smart energy policies that benefit all Minnesotans.

Garofalo will serve out the remainder of his term through the end of 2024 and encourages constituents to continue to reach out to his office if they need any assistance on matters related to state government.
