RELEASE: Statement from House GOP on President Trump's visit to Minnesota

Monday, April 15, 2019

ST. PAUL, MN—House Deputy Minority Leader Anne Neu, R-North Branch, who greeted President Trump on the tarmac at MSP, and attended the event along with several other legislators on behalf of the Minnesota House Republican Caucus, issued the following statement regarding the President's visit to Minnesota.

"President Trump's visit to Minnesota on Tax Day is a great reminder that the vast majority of Minnesotans saw their taxes go down under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, with an average tax cut of $2200 per family. While Republicans are focused on cutting taxes, Minnesota Democrats have proposed more than $12 billion in tax hikes here on the state level, making life more expensive for every family in Minnesota."

The DFL tax bill would raise more than $4 billion in taxes over the next four years. Democrats are also proposing more than $8 billion in additional tax increases including $3.8 billion in transportation tax hikes, $2.5 billion by restoring the provider tax, and $2 billion to pay for their paid leave program.
