MINUTES


Representative Sondra Erickson, Vice Chair of the Education Policy and Reform Committee, began the fourteenth meeting at 8:15AM on Thursday, March 10, 2005, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

HF1090 (Buesgens): Noncurricular athletic and fine arts activities for youth transferred from school districts to local governments.

Representative Sondra Erickson called the fourteenth meeting officially to order at 8:19AM. A quorum was present.

Rep. Buesgens moved that HF1090 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the committee on Local Government.

Rep. Buesgens presented HF 1090.

Rep. Erickson laid HF1090 over for future consideration.

Rep. Buesgens assumed the gavel at 9:18AM.

HF1544 (Klinzing): Charter school student participation in resident school district extracurricular activities authorized.

Rep. Klinzing moved that HF1544 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the committee on Education Finance.

Rep. Klinzing presented HF1544.

Rep. Klinzing moved the delete-everything LL40 amendment to HF 1544, adding 1544 in the space left for the house file number. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Klinzing incorporated the following oral amendment into HF1544:
Page 7, line 8, strike “paragraph” and insert “paragraphs”.
Page 7, line 8, after “(a)”, insert “and (f)”.
Page 3, line 25, after “school”, insert “and the resident school district”.

Rep. Klinzing renewed her motion that HF1544 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the committee on Education Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

A division was called for.

THERE BEING 15 AYES AND LESS THAN 15 NAYS THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Erickson moved the minutes of March 8, 2005. THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED.

The meeting adjourned at 10:08 AM.
