MINUTES


Representative Mark Buesgens, Chair of the Education Policy and Reform Committee, began the sixteenth meeting at 8:19AM on Thursday, March 17, 2005, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

Representative Mark Buesgens called the sixteenth meeting officially to order at 8:20AM. A quorum was present.

HF1454 (Eastlund): Education administrative districts established.

Rep. Eastlund moved that HF1454 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the committee on Education Finance.

Rep. Eastlund moved the H1454A3 amendment to HF1454. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Eastlund moved the following oral amendment:
Page 6, line 2, delete “and” and insert “,”.
Page 6, line 3, after “board”, insert “and the commissioner”.
THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Eastlund presented HF1454.

Rep. Eastlund renewed his motion that HF1454 as amended be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the committee on Education Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF60 (Greiling): Education Commissioner eliminated as an eligible charter school sponsor.

Rep. Greiling moved that HF60 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the committee on Education Finance.

Rep. Greiling presented HF1454.

Rep. Greiling renewed her motion that HF60 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the committee on Education Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1718 (Demmer): School boards prohibited from contracting to limit superintendent authority to assign teachers and administrators.

Rep. Demmer moved that HF1718 be recommended to pass.

Rep. Demmer presented HF1718.

HF1364 (Mariani): Probationary period authorized for assistant principals who are promoted to principal in cities of the first class.

Rep. Mariani moved that HF1364 be recommended to pass.

Rep. Mariani presented HF1364.

Rep. Mariani renewed his motion that HF1364 be recommended to pass. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Latz moved approval of the 3/15/05 minutes. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting adjourned at 9:55 AM.
