MINUTES


Representative Buesgens, Chair of the Education Policy and Reform Committee, began the twenty-ninth meeting at 8:24AM on Thursday, March 16, 2006, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

HF 3178 (Emmer): Teachers charged with felonies subject to suspension without pay.

Rep. Emmer presented HF3178.

Representative Buesgens, Chair of the Education Policy and Reform Committee, called the twenty-ninth meeting to order at 8:26AM on Thursday, March 16, 2006, in Room 200 of the State Office Building. A quorum was present.


Rep. Heidgerken moved approval of the March 14, 2006 minutes. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED.

Rep. Buesgens moved that HF3178 be recommended to pass and be placed on the general register.

Testifying in favor of HF3178:

Rep. Latz moved the following oral amendment:
On line 2.6, insert “immediate” after “proposed”. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Buesgens amended his motion to that HF3178 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the committee on Civil Law. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF3334 (Erickson): Teacher preparation program report card established for colleges and universities.

Rep. Erickson moved that HF3334 be recommended to pass and be placed on the general register.

Rep. Erickson presented HF3334.

Testifying in opposition to HF3334:
Mary Bentz, President of MACTE

Rep. Erickson amended her motion to that HF3334 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the committee on Higher Education Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Buesgens recessed the committee at 10:01AM.

The committee was not reconvened as anticipated.
