MINUTES
Representative Kathy Tingelstad, Chair of the Governmental Operations and Veterans Affairs Committee, called the forty fifth meeting to order at 10:23 AM on Wednesday, March 15, 2006, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

Representative Larry Haws moved the approval of the minutes of Tuesday, March 14, 2006. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
HF3310 (Cornish) Advance deposits and payments authorized for boat slip rental.
Representative Kathy Tingelstad moved that HF3310 be recommended to pass and be placed on the Consent Calendar.

Representative Joe Hoppe moved that HF2998 be recommended to pass and be placed on the Consent Calendar.

HF2921 (Severson) Leaves of absence for family members of seriously injured or killed member of the armed forces required, veterans programs provided and funded, military pension tax subtraction created, educational fairness required, and money appropriated.
Representative Dan Severson moved that HF2921 be recommended to pass and be referred to the Committee on Higher Education.
Representative Dan Severson moved the HF2921A1 amendment.
Representative Dan Severson moved to amend HF2921A1 as follows:
Delete Lines 1.2 to 1.6 on HF2921A1
THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Representative Dan Severson moved to amend his previous oral amendment as follows:
Delete “1.6” and insert “1.5”
THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Representative Dan Severson incorporated the following change within his motion as follows:
Delete the second “Minnesota” on Line 1.16
Representative Randy Demmer moved to amend HF2921A1 as follows:
Page 1, Line 23, delete “the” after the phrase “federal taxable income,” and insert “a percentage of compensation, up to a maximum”
THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Representative Lloyd Cybart assumed the gavel at 10:50 AM.
Representative Dan Severson moved HF2921A1 as amended. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Representative Lloyd Cybart recognized the 9th grade students from St. Louis Park High School in the audience.
Representative Leon Lillie moved to incorporate the following change in HF2921 as follows:
Line 1.21, insert “grandparents, siblings,” after the phrase “parent, child,”
Representative Dan Severson accepted the change and incorporated it into HF2921.

Representative Dan Severson moved that HF3072 be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register.
