MINUTES
Representative Mark Olson, Chair of the Local Government Committee, called the twenty-third meeting to order at 2:28 P.M. on Wednesday, April 6, 2005, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.
The Clerk noted the roll.

HILSTROM, Debra moved the Minutes of April 4, 2005, be approved as prepared by the Clerk. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
HF1837 (Paymar) Civil rights or human rights departments authorized for cities of the first class, and enforcement powers provided for housing discrimination cases.
PAYMAR, Michael moved HF1837 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Civil Law and Elections.
The following provided testimony on and responded to the Committee’s questions regarding HF1837:
Representative Michael Paymar; Jayne Baccus Khalifa, Director, Civil Rights Department, Room 239, and Gene Ranierr, Director, Inter-Governmental Affairs Department, Room 301M, both of the City of Minneapolis, 350 5th St S, Minneapolis, MN, 55415; and W.H. Tyrone Terrill, Director, Department of Human Rights, City of St. Paul, 240 City Hall, 15 Kellogg Blvd W, St. Paul, MN, 55102.
Jack Horner (4200 Co Rd 42 W, Savage, MN, 55378) on behalf of the MN Multi Housing Association, 1650 82nd St W, Suite 250, Bloomington, MN, 55431.
There being no further testimony, pro or con, the question re-occurred on the Paymar Motion that HF1837 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Civil Law and Elections. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
Without objection the meeting was adjourned at 2:58 PM.
