MINUTES


Representative Steve Smith, Chair of the Public Safety Policy and Finance Committee, called the thirty-third meeting to order at 4:50 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2005 in the 300 North Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

Rep. Cornish moved approval of the minutes of March 30, 2005, Public Safety Policy and Finance Meeting. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Cornish moved approval of the minutes of March 31, 2005, Public Safety Policy and Finance Meeting. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Smith moved HF2085 (Smith) relating to HIV testing of sex offender victim notification procedure clarified.

Rep. Smith presented HF2085.

Rep. Smith moved HF1031 (Zellers) relating to Coercion definition modified relating to criminal sexual conduct law, stepparents authorized to assist a minor in seeking a restraining order, fees waived for sexual assault victims seeking restraining orders, and harassment laws updated.

Rep. Smith moved HF1752 (Smith) relating to child neglect and endangerment offense expanded to include a penalty for leaving a child unattended in a car.

Page 3, line 18, delete “August 1, 2005” and insert “upon enactment”

Rep. Smith moved HF1251 (Smith) relating to custodian of children background check provided, and adoption requirements modified for children who are in the custody of a social services agency.

Rep. Ellison moved to amend HF1869 with the 05-1948 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

With a show of call of hands 5 ayes to 3 nayes. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
