Representative Jerry Dempsey, Vice Chair of the Ways & Means Committee, began the ninth meeting at 12:38 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2005 in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

Representative Dempsey called the meeting officially to order. A quorum was present.
12:39:02 PM Representative Smith moved that the minutes of 2/17/05 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
12:42:11 PM Lynn Reed, Executive Director, Taxpayers Association, gave a presentation on State rankings.
12:53:49 PM Representative Knoblach assumed the gavel.
HF248, Second Engrossment, (Juhnke) Common School District No. 815, Prinsburg, referendum authority converted; school levy recertification authorized; and private school student exemption percentage modified.
1:41:08 PM Representative Abrams moved HF248, Second Engrossment, be recommended to pass.
1:41:14 PM Rep. Juhnke testified on HF248, Second Engrossment.
1:43:24 PM Representative Abrams renewed his motion that HF248, Second Engrossment, be recommended to pass. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
1:43:45 PM Kathy Novak, House Research, gave a presentation on state expenditures ranking.
