HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES EIGHTY-FIFTH SESSION
AGRICULTURE, RURAL ECONOMIES AND VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
MINUTES
Representative Otremba, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 2:18 P.M. on, March 5, 2007, in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.
Rep. Shimanski moved approval of the minutes from February 28, 2007.
THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.
Discussion of Health Care in Rural Minnesota presentation done by Mr. Jack Geller, Center for Rural Policy and Development.
Mr. Geller took and answered questions from the committee.
Representative Heidgerken moved SF 138 (see language at: http://wdoc.house.leg.state.mn.us/leg/LS85/sf0138.1.pdf) be recommended to pass and re-referred to the committee on Finance.
Representative Sviggum explained SF 138 Plant hazards evaluation and report to Legislature required to the committee.
Speaking in favor of SF 138 was:
Mr. Bob Marg, from Elk River, Minnnesota who explained how he lost a couple cattle to Japanese jew.
Representative Heidgerken renewed his motion that SF 138 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the committee on Finance.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.
Representative Faust took over the chair at 2:46 P.M.
Representative Otremba moved HF 276 (see language at: http://wdoc.house.leg.state.mn.us/leg/LS85/hf0276.1.pdf) be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Finance.
Representative Otremba explained HF 276 Minnesota Care self-employed farmers income definition modified to the committee and answered questions.
Testifying in favor of HF 276 were:
Mr. Thom Petersen, Minnesota Farmers Union
Mr. Bob LeFebvre, Executive Director, Minnesota Milk Producers Association
Representative Otremba renewed her motion that HF 276 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Finance.

Representative Otremba took back the chair at 2:58 P.M.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:59 P.M.
