MINUTES
Representative Tom Rukavina, Chair of the Higher Education and Work Force Development Policy and Finance Division, called the meeting to order at 12:35 P.M. on Tuesday, January 30, 2007, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.
Chair Rukavina invited the individuals present from the Minnesota State College Faculty Association, representing the faculty at MnSCU's two-year colleges, to begin their testimony, as follows:
JoAnn Roche of Virginia, an English Instructor at Mesabi Range College, introduced herself and provided testimony regarding her experiences as a faculty member at Mesabi Range College. Ms. Roche responded to questions from members.
Don Graves of Ray, a Biology Instructor at Rainy River Community College, introduced himself and provided testimony regarding his experiences as a faculty member at Rainy River Community College. Mr. Graves responded to questions from members.
Further discussion with both Ms. Roche and Mr. Graves followed.
Sheryl Barton of Albert Lea, a Business Instructor at Austin-Riverland College, introduced herself and provided testimony regarding her experiences as a faculty member at Austin-Riverland College. Ms. Barton responded to questions from members.
Suzette Overby of Austin, a Human Services Instructor at Austin-Riverland College, introduced herself and provided testimony regarding her experiences as a faculty member at Austin-Riverland College. Ms. Overby responded to questions from members.

Kelli Smith of Cambridge, a Nursing Instructor at Anoka Ramsey Community College, Cambridge Campus, introduced herself and provided testimony regarding her experiences as a faculty member at Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Ms. Smith responded to questions from members.
Further discussion followed.
Chair Rukavina invited the individuals present from the Inter Faculty Organization, representing the faculty at the MnSCU four-year universities, to begin their testimony, as follows:
Roderick Henry of Bemidji, a Professor of Business at Bemidji State University, introduced himself and provided testimony regarding his experiences as a faculty member at Bemidji State University.
Vice Chair Poppe assumed the Chair at 1:35 P.M.
Chair Rukavina resumed the Chair at 1:40 P.M.
Sonja Meiers of Mankato, a Professor of Nursing at Minnesota State University Mankato, introduced herself and provided testimony regarding her experiences as a faculty member at Minnesota State University Mankato.
Monte Bute of Woodbury, a Professor of Social Sciences at Metropolitan State University, introduced himself and provided testimony regarding his experiences as a faculty member at Metropolitan State University.
Representative Bly moved that the minutes of January 24, 2007 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
Nancy Black of Minneapolis, a Professor at Metropolitan State University on leave to serve as President of the Inter Faculty Organization, introduced herself and provided testimony regarding her experiences as a faculty member at Metropolitan State University and as President of the IFO.
Mr. Henry, Ms. Meiers, Mr. Bute and Ms. Black answered questions from members. Discussion followed.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:10 P.M.
