MINUTES
Representative Tom Rukavina, Chair of the Higher Education and Work Force Development Policy and Finance Division, called the meeting to order at 12:35 P.M. on Wednesday,
February 14, 2007, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.
Chair Rukavina invited Susan Heegaard, Director of the Office of Higher Education, to begin her presentation of the Office of Higher Education's 2008-2009 budget request.
Susan Heegaard, Director of the Office of Higher Education, introduced herself and also introduced Mark Misukanis, Director of Fiscal Policy and Research, Office of Higher Education; Cheryl Maplethorpe, Director of Financial Aid, Office of Higher Education; and Tricia Grimes, Policy Analyst, Office of Higher Education. Ms. Heegaard indicated that Mr. Misukanis and Ms. Maplethorpe would help with the presentation, and that Ms. Grimes would be a helpful resource to committee members and staff.
Ms. Heegaard began the presentation of the Office of Higher Education's budget request and was assisted by Mr. Misukanis and Ms. Maplethorpe.
Questions and discussion followed.
Chair Rukavina invited the presidents or representatives of student organizations who were present for their student lobby day to come forward and provide testimony.
Scott Formo, President of the Minnesota State College Student Association, introduced himself and provided testimony on behalf of the students his organization represents.

Representative McFarlane moved that the minutes of February 8, 2007 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
Ms. Heegaard continued the presentation of the Office of Higher Education's budget request.
Questions and discussion followed.
Chair Rukavina stated that the presentation of the Office of Higher Education's budget request would continue to the next meeting scheduled for Thursday, February 15, 2007.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:05 P.M.
