EIGHTY-FIFTH SESSION FIFTH MEETING
HEALTH CARE AND HUMAN SERVICES DIVISION

A quorum being present, the fifth meeting was called to order by the Chair at 12:32 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2007, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

Representative Fritz moved adoption of the January 23 minutes. The motion prevailed.
John Walz, Fiscal Analyst for the House, spoke briefly on his two-sided document "Minnesota Department of Human Services, Governor's Recommended Spending, Includes Direct and Statutory Expenditures" and the back side being "Minnesota Department of Health Governor's Recommended Spending, Includes Direct and Statutory Expenditures."
The Chair introduced Cal Ludeman, Commissioner, Minnesota Department of Human Services, who gave a very brief overview of the Governor's budget and responded to questions from members.
Jane Wilcox Hardwick, Chief Financial Officer at Human Services, spoke on the DHS budget structure.
Chuck Johnson, Assistant Commissioner at Human Services began his overview of Children and Family Services, during which Barbara Juelich, Human Services Office of Management and Budget, was called to the testimony table to answer questions of the members. Mr. Johnson then continued his testimony and will continue same at January 25 meeting.
The Chair adjourned the meeting at 1:59 p.m.
