MINUTES
Representative Nora Slawik, Chair of the Early Childhood Finance & Policy Division, called the meeting to order at 10:40 am on Thursday, March 25, 2010 in Room 200 of the State Office Building.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Slawik moved that HF2760 (Slawik), Statewide child care provider training, coaching, consultation, and supports funding provided to prepare for the voluntary Minnesota quality rating system, and money appropriated, be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Finance.

H2760DE1 amendment (attached). THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Representative Jackson moved the
H2760A5 amendment (attached). THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Representative Peterson moved the
H2760A1-2 amendment (attached). THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Representative Downey moved the
H2760A3 amendment (attached).
Deb Swenson-Klatt, Manager, Early Childhood Development, Minnesota Department of Human Services answered the questions: What is the mechanism to distribute the grants in this bill? Are there grant applications in for these grants? Could the Department move forward with this program without the bill language?

H2760A2 amendment (attached).
Representative Laine requested a roll call vote.
Representative Downey moved to withdraw the amendment.
Representative Downey moved to incorporate an oral amendment to HF2760, as amended, as follows:
Page 1, Line 25, after "seven" insert "and a charter school that provides screening must inform families that apply for admission to the charter school".
THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Slawik renewed the motion that HF2760, as amended, be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
