Representative Mindy Greiling, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 2:45PM on March 26, 2009, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

HF1376 (Buesgens) A bill for an act relating to education finance; eliminating the concentration factor in compensatory revenue.
Representative Buesgens moved that HF1376 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus K-12 Education Finance Bill.
Representative Buesgens testified.
Greg Crowe, House Fiscal Analyst, provided an overview of compensatory revenue.

Representative Buesgens renewed his motion that HF1376 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus K-12 Education Finance Bill.

HF1643 (Gardner) A bill for an act relating to education; modifying referendum revenue.
Representative Greiling moved that HF1643 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus K-12 Education Finance Bill.
Representative Gardner and Brad Lundell, Executive Director, Schools for Equity in Education, testified.
Representative Greiling renewed her motion that HF1643 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus K-12 Education Finance Bill.
HF29 (Benson) A bill for an act relating to education; removing the inflationary adjustment limitation.
Representative Benson moved that HF29 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus K-12 Education Finance Bill.
Representative Benson and Dennis Peterson, Superintendent, Minnetonka Public Schools, testified.
Representative Benson renewed his motion that HF29 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus K-12 Education Finance Bill.
HF35 (Benson) A bill for an act relating to education finance; eliminating the referendum allowance limit.
Representative Benson moved that HF35 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus K-12 Education Finance Bill.
Representative Benson and Dennis Peterson, Superintendent, Minnetonka Public Schools, testified.
Representative Benson renewed his motion that HF35 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus K-12 Education Finance Bill.
Representative Anderson moved the minutes of March 25, 2009 be adopted.

HF501 (Mariani) A bill for an act relating to education; creating an alternative means of graduation for students.
Representative Mariani moved that HF501 be recommended to pass and be returned to the Finance Committee.

THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

ON A VOTE OF 7 AYES AND 8 NAYS, THE AMENDMENT WAS NOT ADOPTED.
Representative Mariani renewed his motion that HF501 be recommended to pass, as amended, and be returned to the Finance Committee.
