MINUTES
Representative Tom Rukavina, Chair of the Higher Education and Workforce Development Finance and Policy Division, called the meeting to order at 1:05 P.M. on Thursday,
February 5, 2009, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.
Chair Rukavina announced that he was appointing Representative Haws and Representative McFarlane to the working group on financial aid chaired by Representative Slocum.
Chair Rukavina welcomed the 10th to 12th grade students from Project LEAD in St. Paul who were in the audience observing the hearing.
Chair Rukavina welcomed Susan Heegaard, Director, Office of Higher Education to the committee and thanked her for her public service as she moves on to her new position with the Bush Foundation as head of their higher education department.
Susan Heegaard, Director, Office of Higher Education, introduced herself and began her presentation on the Governor’s higher education budget recommendations by beginning with the Office of Higher Education budget.
