MINUTES
Representative Tom Rukavina, Chair of the Higher Education and Workforce Development Finance and Policy Division, called the meeting to order at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday,
February 12, 2009, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.
Chair Rukavina welcomed David Laird, President, Minnesota Private College Council, to the committee and invited him to begin his presentation.
David Laird, President, Minnesota Private College Council, introduced himself. Mr. Laird then introduced Vincent Hylla, University of St. Thomas student, and Jessica Brooks, Carlton College student, Sister Andrea Lee, President, College of St. Catherine, and Dr. Brian Rosenberg, President, Macalester College and said they would be providing testimony on behalf of the Private College Council. Mr. Laird provided testimony regarding Minnesota’s private colleges. Mr. Laird then invited the students to begin their presentations.
Vincent Hylla, student, University of St. Thomas, introduced himself and provided testimony regarding his personal student experience.
