MINUTES
Representative Kahn, Chair of the Division, called the meeting to order at 2:49 P.M. on March 24, 2009 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was not present.
Commissioner Tom Hanson and Deputy Commissioner Stephanie Andrews, both from the Department of Finance, gave an overview of the Governor’s proposed budget changes for the Department.
A quorum was present at 2:51 P.M
Representative Winkler moved that the minutes of March 18, 2009 and March 19, 2009 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
State Budget Director Jim Schowalter, Assistant Commissioner Lori Mo and Assistant Commissioner Kathy Kardell, all from the Department of Finance continued the presentation of the Governor’s proposed budget changes for the Department.
HF 1511 (Atkins) Lawful gambling provisions modified.
Representative Kahn moved that HF 1511 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Finance Committee.
Representative Kahn then moved the
A-6 amendment.
THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Representative Joe Atkins and Executive Director Tom Barrett, Gambling Control Board, testified in support of HF 1511.
Representative Kahn renewed her motion that HF 1511 be recommended to pass as amended and re-referred to the Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
Executive Director Tom Barrett, Gambling Control Board, gave an overview of lawful (charitable) gambling in Minnesota and issues facing the industry.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:10 P.M.
