Representative Hornstein, Chair of the Transportation and Transit Policy and Oversight Division, called the meeting to order at 1:08 P.M. on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 in Room 5 of the State Office Building. The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

HF988 (Mariani) REAL ID Act implementation prohibited. Charles Samuelson, Executive Director, ACLU-MN assisted in presenting the bill. Pat McCormack, Vehicle Services-Department of Public Safety, spoke to the bill. Rep. Hornstein moved that HF988 be recommended to pass and referred to the Public Safety Policy Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
HF1190 (Mariani) Motor vehicle purchasing requirements modified. Jim Reinitz and Bob Killeen from the Auto Workers' of Minnesota, spoke to the bill. Rep. Hornstein moved that HF1190 be recommended to pass and rereferred to the State and Local Government Operations committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
HF912 (Eken) Cargo tank vehicle weight restrictions exempted on seasonally weight-restricted roads. Roger Leider, Propane Gas Association; Bob Krogman, MN Petroleum Marketers Association and Bruce Kleven, Coop Network, spoke in favor of HF912. The following spoke in opposition to the bill: Ryan O’Connor, MN Assoc. of Counties, Daryl Pettis, LeSueur County Engineer and Bob Vanasek, MN Inter-County Association. Rep. Urdahl moved adoption of the
H0912A1 amendment including the following verbal amendment:
Page 1, line 7, delete "the last week of" and after "April" insert "15"

HF571 (Sailer) Mini truck titling, registration, and operation regulated. Rep. Hornstein moved the
H0571A2 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. Michelle Tuckner, MN State Patrol, spoke to the bill. Rep. Hornstein moved that HF571, as amended, be rereferred to the Transportation Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
