AGRICULTURE, RURAL ECONOMIES AND VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

MINUTES


Representative Otremba, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 2:49 P.M. on, March 3, 2010, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Doty moved approval of the minutes from March 1, 2010.
THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.

Representative Doty moved SF 133 be recommended to pass to the General Register.

SF 133 (Juhnke). Congress of the United States memorialized to oppose legislation interfering with a state's ability to direct the transport or processing of horses.

Representative Juhnke explained the bill to the committee and took questions from the members.

Testifying on SF 133 was:

Jeremy Geske, Minnesota Farm Bureau
Mark Ward, President, Minnesota Horse Council
Howard Goldman, Minnesota State Director, Humane Society of the United States
Drew Fitzpatrick, State Humane Agent/Minnesota Hooved Animal Rescue Foundation

Representative Doty renewed his motion that SF 133 be recommended to pass to the General Register.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting adjourned at 3:31 PM.
