MINUTES



Representative Sheldon Johnson, Chair of the Telecommunications Regulation and Infrastructure Division, called the first meeting to order at 8:36 A.M. on January 16, 2009, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Johnson called the meeting to order at 8:36 A.M. A quorum was present.

Introductions were made by all division members and staff.

Chair Johnson reviewed the rules of the division and the direction the division would like to take this session.

Digital Television Transition Overview and Discussion
Handouts were given to division members:
"Minnesota DTV Transition Resources"
"The Digital TV Transition".

Testimony was given by:

William D. Freedman, Associate Chief of the Media Bureau, Federal Communications Commission

Jim du Bois, President and CEO, Minnesota Broadcasters Association

Mike Martin, Executive Director, Minnesota Cable Communications Association
A handout was given to division members:
"Comcast".


Mike Hiltner, Government Relations Manager, Best Buy
A handout was given to division members:
"Best Buy - DTT: What Every Consumer Needs to Know".

Buzz Anderson, President, MN Retailers Association.

The meeting adjourned at 9:58 A.M.
