MINUTES
Representative Kory Kath, Vice-Chair of the K-12 Education Policy & Oversight Committee, called the thirty-ninth meeting to order at 8:35 AM on Thursday, February 11, 2010 in the Basement hearing room of the State Office Building.

Ms. Cyndy Crist, System Director for P-16 Collaboration, MnSCU, and Board Member, SciMathMN, gave an overview of the presentations by SciMathMN.
Dr. Bill Schmidt, Michigan State University, presented lessons from Trends in International Math and Science Study (TIMSS) science results.

Chair Kath officially called the meeting to order at 8:50 AM. A quorum was present.

Dr. Natalie Rasmussen, chemistry teacher, Minneapolis North Community High School, presented on closing the achievement gap in math and science education.

HF 2360 (Davnie) - A bill for an act relating to Special School District No. 1, Minneapolis; providing for two members appointed by Special School District No. 1, Minneapolis, on the Minneapolis reapportionment commissions; establishing standards.
Rep. Swails moved that the minutes from February 9, 2010, be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.
Rep. Davnie moved that HF 2360 be recommended to pass, and referred to the committee on State and Local Government Operations Reform, Technology, and Elections with a recommended re-referral to the Local Government Division.
Rep. Davnie moved the
H2360A3 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Rep. Davnie presented HF 2360, as amended.
Questions and discussion followed.
Rep. Davnie renewed his motion that HF 2360 be recommended to pass, as amended, and referred to the committee on State and Local Government Operations Reform, Technology, and Elections with a recommended re-referral to the Local Government Division. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
