MINUTES
Debra Hilstrom, Chair of the Public Safety Policy & Oversight Committee, started the fourteenth meeting of the House Public Safety Policy & Oversight Committee at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 26, 2009 in Room 10 of the State Office Building.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

HF161 First Engrossment (Thissen): Medical response unit reimbursement pilot program established, emergency medical services programs funded, and money appropriated.
Rep. Thissen presented HF161 En. 1.
A quorum was present at 1:05 and the meeting was officially called to order.
Rep. Olin moved that HF161 En. 1 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Finance.
Rep. Thissen took questions on HF161 En.1 from the committee.
Rep. Olin renewed his motion that HF161 En. 1 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Finance.
THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE BILL WAS PASSED.
HF971 (Bigham): Predatory offender registration time period rule clarified.
Rep. Bigham moved that HF971 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Public Safety Oversight & Policy Omnibus bill.
Rep. Bigham presented HF971 and took questions from the committee.
Tim O’Malley, Superintendent, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, testified on behalf of HF971 and took questions from the committee.
Rep. Bigham renewed her motion that HF971 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Public Safety Oversight & Policy Omnibus bill.
Chair Hilstrom laid HF971 over for possible inclusion in the Public Safety Oversight & Policy Omnibus bill.
Rep. Bigham assumed the gavel at 1:21pm.
HF792 (Hilstrom): Machine gun and short barreled shotgun possession included on the list of crimes against a person for registration under the Predatory Offender Registration Law.
Rep. Hilstrom moved that HF792 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Public Safety Oversight & Policy Omnibus bill.
Rep. Hilstrom presented HF792 and took questions from the committee.

Rep. Hilstrom moved that HF695 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Civil Justice.
Rep. Hilstrom presented HF695 and took questions from the committee.
