MINUTES
Representative Cornish, Chair of the Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Finance Committee, called the thirty-fifth meeting to order at 10:19 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2011, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

Representative Kriesel moved that the minutes of April 27, 2011, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
HF0358 (Barrett) Immigration law enforcement noncooperation ordinances and policies prohibited, and immigration-related data use provided.
Chairman Cornish moved that HF0358 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee.
The committee discussed HF0358.
Chairman Cornish renewed his motion that HF0358 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
Vice Chairman Woodard assumed the gavel at 10:32 a.m.
HF1467 (Cornish) Firearms; mental health commitment information to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System required, permit renewal time period extended, annual background check provided, courts required to report certain data, authority of public officials clarified and delimited, defense of home and person law clarified, Minnesota's self-defense and defense of home laws codified and extended, common law duty to retreat eliminated, boundaries of dwelling expanded, presumption created, available rights extended, and Minnesota recognition provided of other states' permits to carry.
Representative Cornish moved that HF1467 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee.
Representative Cornish and David M. Gross provided an outline of HF1467.
The committee heard testimony on HF1467.
