MINUTES
Representative Marquart, Chair of the Committee on Education Finance, called the meeting to order at 8:15 AM, January 29, 2013 in Room 10 of the State Office Building.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.
Representative Hertaus moved the minutes of January 23rd and 24th, 2013 be adopted.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.
The following groups and testifiers presented information:
Minnesota Library Association regarding literacy - Mark Ranum, Director of Plum Creek and Pioneerland Libraries;
Minneapolis Public Schools regarding AVID and early learning - Maureen Seiwert, Executive Director of Early Learning, Maria Roberts, District Leader, and Jim Grathwol, Government Relations Coordinator;
Burnsville Public Schools regarding all-day kindergarten - Jon Bonneville, Hidden Valley Elementary Principal;
Service Employees International Union Local 284 - Carol Nieters, Executive Director, Mark Krey, Union Member, and Libby Kantner, Political Organizing Director. Each SEIU representative spoke in support of Governor Dayton's proposed education budget, reinstating the general education levy, funding for early learning, and all-day kindergarten;
YMCA regarding after-school programming - Jenny Wright Collins, Beacons Network Director of the Greater Twin Cities YMCA;
Saint Paul Public Schools regarding high school redesign - Doug Revsbeck, Harding High School Principal and Louis Francisco, teacher and coach.
Members' questions and comments were addressed throughout the presentations.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:46 AM.
