Representative Mariani, Chair of Committee on Education Policy, called the meeting to order at 10:06 A.M. February 21, 2013 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

The following people provided a presentation on next generation Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Education Standards.
Peter Lindstrom, Executive Director of SciMathMN
Richard Husdson, SciMathMN Board Chair
Rep. Mariani moved that H.F. 261 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the House Floor.
Rep. Newton presented H.F. 261 (Newton); School districts allowed to begin the school year before Labor Day.
The following people testified on H.F. 261:

John Malone, Orono School Board Member
Rep. Mariani laid the bill over with the intent of taking it back up when the committee is next convened.
