MINUTES

Representative Mariani, Chair of Committee on Education Policy, called the meeting to order at 10:00 A.M. on March 5, 2013 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Rep. Brynaert assumed the gavel at 10:00 A.M.

Rep. Benson moved that the minutes of February 26, 2013 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Kresha moved that H.F. 957 be passed and referred to the Committee on Environment Policy.

Rep. Dettmer presented H.F. 957 (Dettmer); School construction near former landfills prohibited, and notice required for schools located near former landfills.

The following people testified on H.F. 957:

Loren Sederstrom, producer and host of Suburban Community Channels

Kirk Koudelka, Assistant Commissioner for Legislative and Land Policy, Minnesota PCA

Rep. Kresha renewed the motion that H.F. 957 be passed and referred to the Committee on Environment Policy. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Robert Erickson moved that H.F. 688 be passed and referred to the Committee on Health and Human Services Policy.

Rep. Winkler presented H.F. 688 (Winkler); Schools allowed to maintain a supply of epinephrine auto-injectors, and immunity from liability provided.

Rep. Robert Erickson moved to amend H.F. 688 (see attached amendment H0688A3) THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED

Rep. Robert Erickson renews the motion that H.F. 688 be passed and referred to the Committee on Health and Human Services Policy. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Bly moved H.F. 166 and recommended that it be laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

Rep. Bly presented H.F. 166 (Slocum); Resident pupils temporarily placed in a care and treatment center allowed to continue participation in district extracurricular activities.

Chair Brynaert laid this bill over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

Rep. Bly moved that H.F.361 be passed and referred to the Committee on Education Finance.

Rep. Bly presented H.F. 361 (Slocum); Education provided in care and treatment settings, and money appropriated.
