MINUTES

Representative Simon, Chair of Committee on Elections, called the meeting to order at 2:05pm February 25, 2014 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Rep. Bernardy makes motion to approve minutes of March 19, 2013. Motion prevails.
Rep. Bernardy makes motion to approve minutes of December 18, 2013. Motion prevails.
Rep. Bernardy makes motion to approve minutes of January 28, 2014. Motion prevailed.

Chair Simon moved SF629 (Dill) be re-referred to General Register.

Testimony heard from:

Chair Simon renewed motion that SF629 be re-referred to General Register. Motion prevailed.

HF1960 (Halverson) Voting equipment purchase with Help America Vote Act grants deadline extended.

Rep. Halverson moved that HF1960 (Halverson) be re-referred to General Register.

Testimony heard from:

• Joe Manskey, Ramsey County Elections Manager

Rep. Halverson renewed motion that HF1960 be re-referred to General Register. Motion prevailed.

HF1841 (Freiberg) Ballots that carry identifying marks rejection prevented.

Chair Simon moved that HF1841 be re-referred to General Register.

HF1986 (Winkler) Gift ban law for legislators and legislative employees food and beverage exception eliminated.

Rep. Winkler moved that HF1986 be re-referred to General Register.
