ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES POLICY COMMITTEE

MINUTES

Representative David Dill, Chair of the Environment and Natural Resources Policy Committee, called the twenty second meeting to order at 4:05 p.m., on March 11, 2014, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Fabian moved to approve the minutes of March 5, 2014.

MOTION PREVAILED

Chair moved HF 2651 - Melin – relating to game and fish; allowing legally taken deer to be used in a contest in conjunction with a raffle – before the committee.

Bob Meier, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, stated the department had no problems with HF 2651.

Steve Pedersen, Minnesota Gambling Control Board, answered questions presented by committee members.

Chair moved that HF 2651 be re-referred to Commerce and Consumer Protection Finance and Policy Committee.
MOTION PREVAILED

Representative Hansen moved HF 1408 before the committee and recommended it be laid over for inclusion in the Environment Omnibus bill.

Speaking in opposition to HF 1408 included:

Sheila Vanney,Minnesota Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts
Mary Jo Truchon, Anoka County Soil & Water Conservation District

Representative Hansen renewed his motion that HF 1408 be laid over for inclusion in the Environment Omnibus bill.
MOTION PREVAILED

Representative Hansen moved HF 2571 before the committee and moved it be placed on the General Register.

Al Kean, Chief Engineer, Soil and Water Resources Board, outlined the bill and answered questions from the committee.

Representative Hansen renewed his motion that HF 2571 be placed on the General Register.
MOTION PREVAILED
