MINUTES
Representative Sondra Erickson, Chair of the Education Innovation Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 8:15 AM on February 5, 2015, in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present at 8:15 AM and the meeting was called to order.
Representative Yvonne Selcer moved to approve the minutes of February 3, 2015. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
Lavyne Rada from Minnesota Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (AFNR) Education presented a background on their experiential learning program that prepares students for successful careers in agriculture.
Tom Holtan, Tamra Sieve, and Gary Kressin from Bloomington Public Schools presented a background on their program, Career & College Academy. This program allows students in high school to start working towards careers in the fields of criminal justice, health services and the building trades.
John Licciardi, a teacher from Osseo Senior High School and Julie Halverson, the District Coordinator of Career and Technical Education, presented a background on a STEM program in Osseo High School that specializes in college preparation in computer technology, engineering and the sciences called Osseo Project Lead the Way.
Emily Saed, the Executive Director from the Minnesota Foundation for Student Organizations; Courtney Merth, the President of Skills USA; and Jennifer Polz, the Executive Director of Skills USA presented a background on Skills USA. Skills USA is a student organization that focused on aiding students enrolled in career and technical education programs in high schools and colleges.
Jean Rakun from Wayzata Schools/CTEcreditmn.com and Cindy Walters from Southwest Metro Educational Cooperative presented a background on Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU’s) Career and Technical Education program. They focus on student career preparation and exploration.
Anne Runck, the Program Faciliator for Intermediate District 287 presented a background on the Hennepin Gateway to College program. They focus on students graduating from high school with a career plan and college credits.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:01 AM.
