HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES FINANCE COMMITTEE
MINUTES

Representative Dean, Chair of the Health and Human Services Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 12:52pm on January 21st, 2015, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.


The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Dean began the meeting at 12:47pm, a quorum was NOT present.

Senator Carla Nelson and Representative Deb Kiel presented opening remarks to the committee on Alzheimer’s research.

A quorum was present at 12:51pm. The meeting was called to order at 12:52pm.

Representative Backer moved approval of the January 20th, 2015 minutes, amended, with the change of adding Representative Susan Allen to the members present column. The motion PREVAILED. The minutes were APPROVED.

Susan Spalding, CEO, Alzheimer’s Association testified to the committee an overview of the diseases statistics.

Dr. Ronald Petersen, Director of the Mayo Clinic Alzheimer’s Research Center presented on current Alzheimer’s research trends.

Marvin Lofquist, Alzheimer’s Association Early Stage Advisory Council testified and told his story of being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Ryan Kiskis, Chair of the Alzheimer’s Association Young Champions Advocacy Committee, testified with his story about his father’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:06pm.
