LEGACY FUNDING FINANCE COMMITTEE

MINUTES

Representative Dean Urdahl, Chair of the Legacy Funding Finance Committee, called the eleventh meeting to order at 12:49 P.M. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in Hearing Room 10 of the State Office Building.

A Quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Daniels moved to approve the minutes of March 23, 2015. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1967 Nornes, Special event recreational camping area exemption created.

Chair Urdahl moved HF1967 and laid the bill over for possible inclusion in the Legacy Funding Finance omnibus bill.

Representative Nornes and Al Frank testified in favor of HF1967.

Representative Mary Murphy, Jack Lavoy and Sarah Erickson of the Great Lakes Aquarium presented the aquarium’s Legacy fund request and related planed uses for requested funds.

HF896 Mahoney, St. Paul; Chinese garden funding provided, and money appropriated.

Chair Urdahl moved HF896 and laid the bill over for possible inclusion in the Legacy Funding Finance omnibus bill.

Representative Mahoney and William Zasicek testified in favor of HF896.

Cameron Bloom Kruger and Michael Garcia of the Duluth Children’s Museum presented the museum’s legacy fund request and related planed uses for requested funds.

HF1791 Anzelc, Grand Rapids; Children’s Discovery Museum provided funding for new exhibits, and money appropriated.

Representative Tom Anzelc moved to amend HF1791, before the start of line 1.6 stated as: “$200,000 in fiscal year 2016 and $200,000 in fiscal year 2017 are appropriated from”. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Urdahl moved HF1791 and laid the bill over, as amended, for possible inclusion in the Legacy Funding Finance omnibus bill.

Representative Anzelc and John Kelsch of the Children’s Discovery Museum testified in favor of HF1791.

Karen Oberhauser of the University of Minnesota presented an informational hearing on Monarch Butterfly preservation.

HF129 Dettmer, Big Marine Lake veterans rest camp improvement funding provided, and money appropriated.

The meeting adjourned at 2:27 P.M.
