MINUTES
Representative Sondra Erickson, Chair of the Education Innovation Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 8:16 AM on January 31, 2017, in room 10 of the State Office Building. A quorum was present.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Presentations:
Greg Keith, Chief Academic Officer at the Minnesota Department of Education, gave a power point presentation on The World’s Best Workforce Legislative Report.
Stephanie Graff, Chief Accountability Officer at the Minnesota Department of Education, gave a presentation on metrics and analytics for The World’s Best Workforce Legislative Report.
Dr. Tom Melcher, Director School Finance Division at the Department of Education, gave a walk through on special education data.
Paul Ferrin, Supervisor of Special Education Division at the Minnesota Department of Education, provided additional insight on special education funding.
Robyn Widley, Director of Special Education at the Minnesota Department of Education, addressed question provided to chair from audience in regards to Twice Exceptional Print Disabled Funding, and talked on identifying special needs students.
Marikay Litzau, Director of Compliance and Assistance at the Minnesota Department of Education, provided clarification on litigation costs for district reporting.
Daron Korte, Assistant Commissioner at the Minnesota Department of Education, gave brief testimony on public data accessibility.
Beth Aune, Director of Division on Academic Standards at the Minnesota Department of Education, gave a presentation on Reading Well by the Third Grade and student performance standards.
Cory Stai, Reading Specialist with the Department of Education, provided insight on assessments and how they relate to monitoring student progress.
The meeting adjourned at 10:02 AM.
