Representative Sondra Erickson, Chair of the Education Innovation Policy Committee, unofficially called the meeting to order at 8:15 AM on March 9, 2017, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Erickson officially called the meeting to order at 8:16AM. A quorum was present.
Representative Haley moved approval of the minutes from the March 7, 2017 meeting. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
HF2259 (Loon): Early education access fund established, director of early education and development established, enhanced coordination of early education and development programs provided, early education resources hubs authorized, report required, early education programs transferred to the director of early education and development, and money appropriated.
Representative Erickson moved to re-refer HF2259 to the Committee on Education Finance.
Representative Loon introduced HF2259.
Representative Erickson moved the H2259A2 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Erica Moss, Executive Director with Close the Gap by 5, testified in support of HF2259.

Gayle Kelley, Executive Director with MN Head Start Association, testified in opposition to HF2259.

Jennifer Sommerfeld, The Department of Human Services, testified with some concerns to HF2259.
Representative Erickson renewed the motion to re-refer HF2259, as amended, to the Committee on Education Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
HF1376 (Erickson): Prekindergarten through grade 12 education provisions modified.
Representative Erickson moved to re-refer HF1376 to the Committee on Education Finance.
