HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES NINETY-SECOND SESSION
AGRICULTURE FINANCE AND POLICY COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Mike Sundin, Chair of the Agriculture Finance and Policy Committee, called the virtual meeting to order at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, pursuant to House rule 10.01. The meeting was broadcast via Zoom and House Public Information Services.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll. A quorum was present.

Rep. Hanson, J. moved to approve adoption of the minutes of the previous meeting. The motion prevailed. The minutes from the February 21, 2022 meeting were adopted.

Rep. Sundin passed the virtual gavel and Vice Chair Vang assumed the Chair at 1:02 P.M.

HF 2341 (Sundin) Agricultural Utilization Research Institute office and research laboratory construction funding provided, and money appropriated.

Rep. Sundin moved HF 2341 to get the bill before the committee.

Rep. Sundin moved the H2341A1 amendment. The motion prevailed. The A1 amendment was adopted.

AURI (Agricultural Utilization Research Institute) provided an informational overview on their supplemental budget requests contained in the following bills: HF 3679, HF 3680, HF 3681, HF 3687

Vice Chair Vang passed the virtual gavel and Chair Sundin reassumed the Chair at 1:31 P.M.

HF 3264 (Vang) Micro farm premium assistance program established, grant and technical use funding provided, and money appropriated.

Rep. Vang moved that HF 3264 be laid over for possible inclusion in the supplemental finance bill.

HF 3264 was laid over.

HF 2712 (P. Anderson) Drought relief grant funding provided to eligible farmers, and money appropriated.

Rep. Anderson moved that HF 2712 be laid over for possible inclusion in the supplemental finance bill.

Rep. Anderson moved the H2712DE1 amendment. The motion prevailed. The DE1 amendment was adopted.

Chair Sundin laid over HF 2712, as amended, for possible inclusion.

Kyle Thomas, MN FFA State Treasurer, provided a greeting and responded to member questions as a part of FFA Week.
