MINUTES

Representative Alice Hausman, Chair of the Housing Finance and Policy Committee, called the virtual meeting to order at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, February 18th, 2021 pursuant to House rule 10.01. The meeting was broadcast via Zoom and House Public Information Services.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Rep. Howard moved approval of the Minutes from Tuesday, February 16th. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.

HF 20 (Hassan) Modifying termination of tenancy at will; requiring residential tenant notice of grounds for eviction before action be brought.

Rep. Hassan moved that HF 20 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the committee on Judiciary Finance and Civil Law.

Rep. Hassan renewed the motion that HF 20 be recommend to pass and re-referred to the committee on Judiciary Finance and Civil Law. There being 8 Aye’s and 5 Nay’s, THE MOTION PREVAILS AND THE BILL IS RE-REFERRED.

HF 1060 (Agbaje) Eviction tenant screening report procedures established.

Rep. Agbaje moved that HF 1060 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the committee on Judiciary Finance and Civil Law.

Rep. Agbaje moved the A1 Author’s Amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Agbaje renewed the motion that HF 1060 be recommended to pass as amended and re-referred to the committee on Judiciary Finance and Civil Law. There being 8 Aye’s and 5 Nay’s, THE MOTION PREVAILS AND THE BILL IS RE-REFERRED.

HF 265 (Hassan) Eligibility expanded for discretionary and mandatory expungements for eviction case court files.

Rep. Hassan moved that HF 265 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the committee on Judiciary Finance and Civil Law.
