MINUTES

Representative Noor, Chair of the Workforce and Business Development Finance and Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 1:00 P.M. on March 22nd, 2021. The meeting was broadcasted via Zoom and House Public Information Services. A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Chair Noor moved to amend the minutes to reflect Rep. Baker as excused. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE MINUTES WERE AMENDED.

Representative Davnie moved to approve the minutes, as amended, for the March 19th, 2021 meeting. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.

Representative Kotyza-Withuhn assumed the gavel at 1:04 P.M.

HF 1784 (Noor) Small business support program funding provided, report required, and money appropriated.

Testifiers in regards to HF 1784:
Cesia Baires, owner of Abi's Cafe in Minneapolis
Danny Schwartzman, owner of Common Roots Cafe and Catering in Minneapolis
Mary Taris, owner of Strive Publishing in Robbinsdale

Chair Noor laid HF 1784 over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

Informational Hearing:
HF 1342 (Noor) Governor's budget for jobs and economic development established; funding provided for Departments of Employment and Economic Development.

Hamse Warfa, Deputy Commissioner for Workforce Development at DEED.
