PUBLIC SAFETY AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM FINANCE AND POLICY COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Mariani, Chair of the Committee on Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform Finance and Policy, called the virtual meeting to order at 1:00 PM on March 18th, 2021 pursuant to House Rule 10.01. The meeting was broadcast via Zoom and House Public Information Services.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Vice Chair Frazier moved that the minutes of March 16th, 2021 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


Chair Mariani moved that HF 1015 be referred to the General Register.

Representative Marquart presented HF 1015, a bill for an act relating to the State Building Code; modifying state building code applicability and fire sprinkler requirements for public places of accommodation; amending Minnesota Statutes 2020, section 326B.108, subdivisions 1, 3, by adding a subdivision.

Chair Mariani moved that HF 2080 be referred to the General Register.

Representative Shultz presented HF 2080, a bill for an act relating to national criminal history record checks; providing for compliance with section 6103 of the Internal Revenue Code and IRS Publication 1075 for certain individuals with access to federal tax information; classifying data; amending Minnesota Statutes 2020, section 270B.13, by adding a subdivision; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 299C.

Chair Mariani moved that HF 2080 be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus bill.


Representative Huot moved that HF 2077 be referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Representative Huot presented HF 2077, a bill for an act relating to public safety; establishing an advisory committee to the commissioner of public safety for the certification of firefighters; appropriating money; amending Minnesota Statutes 2020, section 299N.04, subdivisions 1, 2, by adding subdivisions.

Representative Igo presented HF 515, a bill for an act relating to public safety; establishing a 911 telecommunicator working group to establish statewide standards for training and certification; requiring a report.

Representative Franke presented HF 1482, a bill for an act relating to public safety; addressing fire safety at petroleum refineries; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 299F.
