JUDICIARY FINANCE AND CIVIL LAW MINUTES

Representative Jamie Becker-Finn, Chair of the Committee on Judiciary Finance and Civil Law, called the meeting to order at 8:30 AM on February 28, 2023 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Moller moved that the minutes of February 21, 2023, be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 1414 (Curran) Courts; formula for distribution of fine proceeds amended.

Representative Curran moved that HF 1414, as previously presented on February 21, 2023, be before the Judiciary Finance and Civil Law Committee.

Representative Curran moved that HF 1414 be recommended to be re-referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Representative Curran presented HF 1414.

Representative Curran renewed the motion that HF 1414 be recommended to be re-referred to the Committee on Ways and Means. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 744 (Kozlowski) Duluth; First Witness Child Advocacy Center funding provided, and money appropriated.

Chair Becker-Finn moved that HF 774 be recommended to be re-referred to the Capital Investment Committee.

Chair Becker-Finn moved that HF 1326 be recommended to be re-referred to the Transportation Finance and Policy Committee.

Chair Becker-Finn moved the H1326A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

HF 1521 (Hanson, J.) Northstar Care for Children assessment rate effective dates, relative search requirements, and termination of parental rights technical changes made; and technical corrections made to child support provision.

Chair Becker-Finn moved the H1521A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Committee discussion of all bills will be limited to the provisions within the jurisdiction of the Judiciary Finance and Civil Law Committee. Items may be taken up in any order, items may be added or removed at the Chairs' discretion.
