EDUCATION POLICY MINUTES

Representative Laurie Pryor, Chair of the Committee on Education Policy, called the meeting to order at 3:03 PM on February 21, 2024 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Lee moved that the minutes from February 20, 2024, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1242 (Baker); School boards authorized to implement four-day school week programs without approval by commissioner of education, and rulemaking required.

Representative Bakeberg moved that HF1242 be laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

Representative Bakeberg moved the H1242A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Baker presented HF1242 as amended.

HF3492 (Lee); establishing a computer science education advancement program; authorizing rulemaking; appropriating money.

Representative Lee moved that HF3492 be re-referred to the Committee on Education Finance.

Representative Lee moved the H3492DE2 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Lee presented HF3492 as amended.
