TAXES COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Aisha Gomez, Chair of the Committee on Taxes, called the meeting to order at 1:04PM on March 14, 2024 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Lislegard moved that the minutes from March 12, 2024 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF4823 (Norris) A bill for an act relating to taxation; individual income; allowing 18-year-old children to qualify for the Minnesota child credit; amending Minnesota Statutes 2023 Supplement, sections 290.0661, subdivision 1; 290.0671, subdivision 1a.

Vice Chair Norris moved that HF4823 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Taxes Omnibus bill.

Vice Chair Norris presented HF4823.

HF4831 (Gomez) A bill for an act relating to taxation; taxpayer assistance and outreach grants; requiring the Department of Revenue to make taxpayer assistance and outreach grants; appropriating money; amending Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 270C.21.

Chair Gomez moved that HF4831 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Taxes Omnibus bill.

Chair Gomez presented HF4831.

HF3788 (Hanson) A bill for an act relating to taxation; repealing the tax on illegal cannabis and controlled substances; making related technical changes; amending Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 609.902, subdivision 4; Minnesota Statutes 2023 Supplement, section 609A.02,
subdivision 3; repealing Minnesota Statutes 2022, sections 13.4967, subdivision 5; 297D.02; 297D.03; 297D.05; 297D.09, subdivisions 1, 2; 297D.12; 297D.13; Minnesota Statutes 2023 Supplement, sections 297D.01; 297D.04; 297D.06; 297D.07; 297D.08; 297D.085; 297D.09, subdivision 1a; 297D.10; 297D.11.

Chair Gomez moved that HF3788 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Taxes Omnibus bill.

Chair Gomez moved the H3788A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Hanson presented HF3788, as amended.
