WAYS AND MEANS COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

Representative Liz Olson, Chair of the Committee on Ways and Means, called the meeting to order at 10:32 A.M. on, Friday, May 10, 2024, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Vice Chair Edelson moved that the minutes of May 8, 2024, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF4746 (Hassan) Transportation network companies regulated, civil cause of action provided, and criminal penalties imposed.

Representative Hassan moved that HF 4746 be placed on the General Register.

Representative Hassan presented HF 4746.

Representative Garofalo requested a roll call.

Representative Hassan renewed the motion that HF 4746 be placed on the General Register.

HF5274 (Stephenson) Horse racing; advance deposit wagering conduct, card playing, and pari-mutel betting provided; historical horse racing and other games authorization prohibited; definitions provided; and clarifying and conforming changes made.

Chair Olson moved that HF 5274 be placed on the General Register.

Chair Olson moved the DE3 amendment to HF 5274.

Representative Pfarr moved the A8 amendment to the DE3 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Olson renewed the motion to adopt the DE3 amendment as amended. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT, AS AMENDED, WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Stephenson presented HF 5274 as amended.

Chair Olson renewed the motion that HF 5274, as amended, be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF5363 (Frazier) Minnesota Paid Leave Law; paid leave provisions modified.

Chair Olson moved that HF 5363 be placed on the General Register.

Chair Olson moved the DE1 amendment to HF 5363.

Representative Frazier presented the DE1 amendment to HF 5363.

Chair Olson recessed the committee at 11:37 A.M.

Chair Olson reconvened the committee at 12:23 P.M.

Chair Olson moved to lay over HF 5363.

The bill was laid over.

The meeting adjourned at 12:23

Note: The H5274 DE3 amendment inserts the language from HF2000 and combines it with the underlying language of HF5274.
Note: The committee will consider a motion to insert the House language from HF2300 onto SF2219.
