House Education Policy Committee

MINUTES

Representative Bennett, Chair of the Education Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 3:01 PM, on February 25, 2025, in Room G23 of the Capitol Building. A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Gordon moved the minutes of February 25, 2025, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Keeler and Representative Bakeberg presented information regarding student attendance, chronic absenteeism, and truancy.

Representative Keeler moved HF62 before the committee.

Representative Keeler moved the A1 Amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Bennett laid over HF62, as amended, for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill or further consideration at a later date.

HF1030 (Keeler) Student attendance reporting required.

Representative Keeler moved HF1030 before the committee.

HF1053 (Bakeberg) Reenrollment after student withdrawal from school encouraged, and notification and resources required for the family of unenrolled child

HF1054 (Bakeberg) Student attendance data reporting required in school performance reports.
