House Education Policy Committee

MINUTES

Representative Bennett, Chair of the Education Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 3:00 PM, on March 5, 2025, in Room G23 of the Capitol Building. A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Falconer moved the minutes of March 4, 2025, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF877 (Mueller) - Read Act amended, and appropriations cancelled.

Representative Mueller moved that HF877 be re-referred to the Education Finance Committee.

Representative Mueller moved to adopt the A2 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Mueller presented on HF877, as amended.

Representative Jordan moved to adopt the A3 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS NOT ADOPTED.

Representative Greene moved to adopt the A4 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS NOT ADOPTED.

Representative Mueller renewed the motion that HF877, as amended, be re-referred to the Education Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1171 (Rehrauer) - Minnesota math corps program mission modified, and money appropriated.

Representative Jordan moved that HF1171 be re-referred to the Education Finance Committee.

Representative Rehrauer presented on HF1171.

Chair Bennett laid over HF1171 for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill or further consideration at a later date.

HF1491 (Bennett) - Evidence-based education grant goals clarified.

Chair Bennett moved that HF1491 be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1492 (Bennett) - Student academic achievement and improvement provisions clarified.

Chair Bennett moved that HF1492 be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


HF514 (Bakeberg) Kindergarten through grade 3 student dismissal limitations modified.
HF1052 (Bakeberg) Student discipline provisions modified.
HF1436 (Bakeberg) Student discipline provisions modified.

Representative Bakeberg presented on HF514, HF1052, and HF1436.

HF1052 (Bakeberg) - Student discipline provisions modified.

Chair Bennett moved that HF1052 be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF514 (Bakeberg) - Kindergarten through grade 3 student dismissal limitations modified.

Chair Bennett moved HF514 before the committee and laid the bill over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill or further consideration at a later date.

HF1436 (Bakeberg) - Student discipline provisions modified.

Chair Bennett moved HF1436 before the committee and laid the bill over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill or further consideration at a later date.
