HOUSE EDUCATION POLICY COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Sydney Jordan, Chair of the Education Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in Room G23 of the Capitol Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Hill moved that the minutes from March 18, 2025 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1171 (Rehrauer) – Minnesota Math Corps program mission modified, and money appropriated.

Chair Jordan moved HF1171 before the committee.

Chair Bennett moved the A2 amendment to HF1171. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Rehrauer presented HF1171 as amended.

Chair Jordan moved that HF1171, as amended, be re-referred to the Education Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1901 (Moller) – School safety provisions modified, anonymous threat reporting system grant provisions modified, active shooter incidents and active shooter threats reporting required, Minnesota Fusion Center reporting modified, report required, and money appropriated.

Chair Jordan moved HF1901 before the committee.

Co-Chair Jordan moved the A2 amendment to HF1901. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Co-Chair Jordan moved the A3 amendment to HF1901. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Moller presented HF1901 as amended.

Chair Jordan moved that HF1901, as amended, be re-referred to the Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF2023 (West) – Overdose prevention education required in health education standards.

Chair Bennett moved that HF2023 be laid over for possible inclusion or further consideration.
Representative West presented HF2023.

HF2483 (Jordan) – School administrators board reporting requirements modified.

Vice Chair Hill moved HF2483 before the committee.

Vice Chair Hill moved that HF2483 be re-referred to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1306 (Jordan) – Kindergarten through grade 12 education changes made; general education, education excellence, charter schools, Read Act, special education, school nutrition, and state agencies provisions modified; and reports required.

Chair Jordan moved that HF1306 be laid over for possible inclusion or further consideration.

Chair Jordan moved the A1 amendment to HF1306. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
