HIGHER EDUCATION FINANCE AND POLICY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

Representative Dan Wolgamott, Chair of the Committee on Higher Education Finance and Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, in Room Capitol G23 in the State Capitol Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Coulter moved the minutes of March 13, 2025, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Presentation from the Minnesota Education Equity Partnership

• Carlos Mariani Rosa, Executive Director, Minnesota Education Equity Partnership (MnEEP)
• Tambryanna Williams, Director for College Race Equity, MnEEP
• Leiataua Dr. Jon Peterson, Senior Fellow and Director of Public Policy, MnEEP

HF2090 (Frazier) Office of Higher Education competitive grant to organizations providing vocational and life skills training to young adults with learning difficulties funding provided, report required, and money appropriated.

Chair Wolgamot moved to lay over HF2090.

Representative Frazier presented HF2090.

Chair Wolgamott renewed his motion that HF2090 be laid over.

The bill is laid over.

HF2229 (Perryman) CentraCare residency programs at Rice Memorial Hospital and St. Cloud Hospital funding provided, and money appropriated.

Representative Wolgamott moved to lay over HF2229.

Representative Perryman presented HF2229

Representative Wolgamott renewed his motion that HF2229 be laid over.

The bill is laid over.

HF982 (Clardy) Education benefit established for dependents of disabled veterans.

Chair Wolgamott moved to refer to HF982 to the Committee of Veterans and Military Affairs.

Representative Wolgamott moved the H0982A1 Amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Clardy presented HF982 as amended.

Chair Wolgamott renewed his motion that HF982, as amended, be re-referred to the Committee of Veterans and Military Affairs. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
