MINUTES

Representative Scott, Chair of the Judiciary Finance and Civil Law Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:15 AM, on ¬¬¬¬¬February 25th, 2025, in Room G3 of the Capitol Building. A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Engen moved the minutes of February 20th, 2025 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


HF 747 (Niska): Minnesota Business Corporation Act modified.

Chair Scott moved HF 747 before the committee.

Chair Scott moved that HF 747 be placed on the General Registry.

Testifiers:

Kim Lowe, Attorney, Minnesota State Bar Association, testified in favor of HF 747.

Chair Scott renewed the motion that HF 747 be placed on the General Registry. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


HF 360 (Scott): Uniform Trust Code, Powers of Appointment, and the Uniform Probate Code various provisions modified; and technical, clarifying, and conforming changes made.

Vice Chair Hudson assumed the gavel at 10:31 AM.

Vice Chair Hudson moved HF 360 before the committee.

Chair Scott moved that HF 360 be placed on the General Registry.

Vice Chair Hudson moved to adopt the A1 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.


Testifiers:

Lauren Barron, Attorney, Minnesota State Bar Association, testified in favor of HF 360 as amended.

Chair Scott renewed the motion that HF 360, as amended, be placed on the General Registry. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chair Scott re-assumed the gavel at 10:54 AM

Judge Mary Mahler, President, and Judge Richard Kyle, Vice President, Minnesota District Judges Association, testified on behalf of the Minnesota District Judges Association about the workings, responsibilities, legislative priorities, and budget request of the Minnesota District Judges Association.

Kim Lowe and Michele Timmons, Commissioners, Uniform Laws Commission, testified on behalf of the Uniform Laws Commission about the workings, responsibilities, and budget request of the Uniform Laws Commission.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:51 AM.
