MINUTES

Representative Paul Novotny, Chair of the Public Safety Finance & Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 3:00 PM on March 5, 2025, in Room 120 of the State Capitol Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Bliss moved to approve the minutes of March 4, 2025. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 767 (Hudson) – Arson directed at a political organization or motivated by a political purpose penalty enhanced.

Representative Hudson moved HF 767 before the committee.

Representative Hudson presented HF 767.

Testifiers:
Kendall Qualls, Founder and Board Member of TakeCharge, testified in support of HF 767.
Bill Walsh, Marketing and Communications Director for the American Experiment, testified in support of HF 767.

Chair Novotny laid over HF 767.

HF 764 (Hudson) – Arson in the first-degree statute of limitations eliminated.

Representative Hudson moved HF 764 before the committee with a recommendation it be re-referred to the General Register.

HF 765 (Hudson) – Aggravated sentences required for violent offenders, consecutive sentences required for violent offenders, offenders required to serve the entire announced sentence in custody.

Lead Moller moved HF 1354 before the committee with a recommendation it be re-referred to the Committee on Judiciary and Civil Law.
