The House of Representatives began its 92nd Legislative Session this week with two floor sessions and one meeting of the House Rules and Legislative Administration Committee.
Members were sworn in and officers elected, but the House has not yet agreed upon the permanent rules under which it will operate during this biennium. Instead, lawmakers agreed to temporary rules that allow them to begin their work by setting up the committee structure they will likely work under for the next two years.
House Majority Leader Ryan Winkler said the permanent rules should come up for a vote next week, during what is already shaping up to be a busy schedule with more than two dozen meetings planned and more almost certain to be added. There have also already been 36 bills introduced.
