After a series of protracted floor sessions last week, there was just one this week as most of the major omnibus bills have now made their first trip through the House. The omnibus health and human services bill was passed late Monday after 11 hours of debate and then … things were relatively quiet.

A handful of conference committees began to meet over the past few days and a few other standalone bills passed off the floor, but it was largely a time to regroup and prepare for the final push to the end of session — two weeks from Monday.

Conference committee work shifts into high gear Monday, when seven panels have gatherings scheduled. The housing; jobs/labor; state government; agriculture; commerce; environment; and transportation conference committees all plan to meet, and more could be added. HHS? Taxes?
